To many Asian countries the koi fish is symbolised by virtues of tolerance, endurance, focus, and ambition. In addition, staying power, strength, and prosperity speaks of these values directly to us. We are reminded that we know how to stay calm in the face of adversity and when it is time to turn to meditation and reflection.
Personally, I just adore them. I could sit there all day watch and sketch, watch and sketch, over and over. They really do bring calmness and joy. With this artwork I wanted to capture the ambiance of the pastel colours and sunlight dancing on the water.
