These unique gems found in the ground. Formed over thousands of years these exquisite treasures, opalised animal and plant fossils.
The land of Australia has so many beautiful things, both above and below the ground.
 
This abstract painting was created with a build up of textured layers using impasto paste with a variance of both structured and flow acrylic paints.
Since opals are excavated it was appropriate to show not just the variance in colours these gems have, but also the fact they are sourced from the ground with plenty texture, raw like it was just pulled from the earth. Purposely sealed with a gloss varnish to match the silica which forms these gems.
